Sonoma County has been described as a "Mecca of Bicycling" and the Valley offers several ways to experience that for yourself.

While there is no rail service running through Sonoma Valley now – it stops at Schellville – the Sonoma Valley we know today once depended on railroads for transportation.

Driving still offers the fastest way to visit all the nooks and crannies of Sonoma Valley in a single day.

Before the automobile and the railroad, a major source of transportation to Sonoma Valley was via boat. While no commercial water transport exists today, Sonoma's history was heavily influenced by water transport. Today, many of the same water ways can be explored via canoe and kayak as well as by sport boat.
